Mark Edwards exhibition, “Art on the Rocks”

I mentioned the opening of Mark’s one man exhibition in Finestrat in the last blog post. The above painting is part of a tryptych. I’m not going to review the exhibition here, as I’m too busy with lesson preparation for tomorrow (… if you must know, it’s the English Civil War, A-level Drama, and Key Stage 3 revision of prepositions… Powerful stuff!) But I will be reviewing it for the Costa Blanca News. My debut in ex-pat journalism. Well, you have to start somewhere. You never know. I might get signed up as the Finestrat art correspondent for Hello! magazine and that will impress Toad.

This one’s called “Lightning”. It has serious weather in it. My Aunt Maud would not like it because anything depicting a Mediterranean landscape should have geraniums in it. Innit? OK, so I’m not Roger Penrose, but you have to start somewhere.

About Gareth Thomas

After a mixed career as an aircraft technician, London fringe theatre playwright, Franciscan friar, and secondary school teacher, I find myself looking after the needs of four donkeys in a remote location in the mountains in the Costa Blanca. I like to listen to BBC Radio 4 and the wind in the pine trees. I am writing a comedy about a school in Benidorm. My favourite film of all time is "Jean de Florette". If I had my time again I would not have spent the early 1970s working for Special Branch.
