Burras desperadas

I’m thinking of re-naming my burras Thelma & Louise and getting them to charge across the Sierra Bernia and down to Finestrat in an open-topped big American car, shooting their way through police road blocks and waving two hooves at the Ministerio de Agricultura and the burrocrats in Brussels…

I’m going up to see the owner this weekend and I’ll wave my full balance for the deal in cash, and say let’s move the donkeys or this money goes back in the bank on Monday morning!

PS. On second thoughts, unlike Thelma and Louise, I see Matilde and Ruby in a tractor rather than a big American coupe.

About Gareth Thomas

After a mixed career as an aircraft technician, London fringe theatre playwright, Franciscan friar, and secondary school teacher, I find myself looking after the needs of four donkeys in a remote location in the mountains in the Costa Blanca. I like to listen to BBC Radio 4 and the wind in the pine trees. I am writing a comedy about a school in Benidorm. My favourite film of all time is "Jean de Florette". If I had my time again I would not have spent the early 1970s working for Special Branch.

Amigo – that sounds like the best solution – since when does a man turn down cash waved in his face? yup…you shoud have your 2 donks with you by the weekend …loved the picture description of them as Thelma and Louise!!!
If you get time check your email – I’m sending you one.
    Bejos e benediciones!

Hi Cherry, and thanks. The burroeaucracy may be crazy, but on the bright side, at least I don’t need a CRB check to keep donkeys…

    I’ll check my email.

    “an open-topped big American car”…
I trust you will take an El Camino!?
Also this picture shows what I mentioned before; very sweet!

  4. RatBag says:

Good luck, Brother Rabit. Fingers crossed for a successful transfer of your donkeys, whatever mode of transport is selected.

  5. Karin says:

    Totally agree with Geert…El Camino!!!

I am going up to the Sierra Bernia tomorrow morning and I shall dress Matilde with the pack saddle and the saddle bags. I hope to get some good photos of her. (Ruby will probably use the opportunity for a few acts of mindless norty burra anarchy, but we will have to take all that nonsense as it comes.)

I am taking the balance in cash with me… a vastly inflated price, but these two donkeys are now my friends, so I must simply pay whatever price is demanded. We separated them from the other donkeys in December and they have now bonded together. They are lovely animals. I just have to do what is best for them.

Good for you! Go for your girls.
Dalie and I are setting out today for a week on the GR 48, just hope the B and Bs are open, as it’s a bit cool at night.
