Revised Morris plan

The fence is nearly ready and Morris will have to be separated, but the new plan is to put his mother Rubi in the new compound with him to begin with, so it is not too much of a sudden shock being separated. This is also because Rubi doesn’t seem entirely right at the moment (the vet is doing tests on blood samples and thinks there may be a liver problem) so I don’t want to cause her additional stress by removing her foal from her at the moment. Rubi and Morris will go in the newly fenced off area and Aitana and Matilde can soon breathe a bray of relief: Morris will not be jumping on them any more.

After fencing off the end of the field, I opened the new gate and let them all in to explore. This made them very excited. When Morris gets excited that soon leads to naughty and rude behaviour. The video captures the whole problem quite neatly…

About Gareth Thomas

After a mixed career as an aircraft technician, London fringe theatre playwright, Franciscan friar, and secondary school teacher, I find myself looking after the needs of four donkeys in a remote location in the mountains in the Costa Blanca. I like to listen to BBC Radio 4 and the wind in the pine trees. I am writing a comedy about a school in Benidorm. My favourite film of all time is "Jean de Florette". If I had my time again I would not have spent the early 1970s working for Special Branch.
