SPANA advert

Those of you who have followed this blog for a while have seen the idyllic setting in which my four lovely donkeys live a relaxed life, well fed, exercised and attended by veterinary care when necessary. For millions of working animals throughout the world, life is not like this. For many it is miserable. Please watch the following advert, narrated by one of my favourite comedy actors, Jim Broadbent. Please contribute if you can.

I challenge you to look the little foal in the eye in the last sequence in this video and not want to cuddle him! All working animals start off like this little youngster, excited by life’s smells and tastes and sounds. None deserve to suffer at the hands of uncaring owners.

About Gareth Thomas

After a mixed career as an aircraft technician, London fringe theatre playwright, Franciscan friar, and secondary school teacher, I find myself looking after the needs of four donkeys in a remote location in the mountains in the Costa Blanca. I like to listen to BBC Radio 4 and the wind in the pine trees. I am writing a comedy about a school in Benidorm. My favourite film of all time is "Jean de Florette". If I had my time again I would not have spent the early 1970s working for Special Branch.
