Croisillon renovation

The croisillon is the wooden frame of the donkey pack saddle. It has just been repaired by my friend Carl after Morris broke it on Monday. He had been tied onto the croisillon, worn by his mother Rubi, and as we were walking into Finestrat Morris did his usual drama act and refused to walk over metal manhole covers… He pulled the lead rope tight and broke the croisillon.

Now it has been completely renovated and I have been cleaning all the leather straps and pannier bags. I am hoping to walk Matilde for a few days soon, just a circuit around the local hills and mountain paths.

About Gareth Thomas

After a mixed career as an aircraft technician, London fringe theatre playwright, Franciscan friar, and secondary school teacher, I find myself looking after the needs of four donkeys in a remote location in the mountains in the Costa Blanca. I like to listen to BBC Radio 4 and the wind in the pine trees. I am writing a comedy about a school in Benidorm. My favourite film of all time is "Jean de Florette". If I had my time again I would not have spent the early 1970s working for Special Branch.
